Beauty: Drops of Youth Bouncy Sleeping Mask - The Body Shop

Okay, here goes. My first ever beauty post.

So I’m just going to apologise in advance if this doesn’t resemble or read like a beauty post in any way at all. But I’m giving it a try!

First off, it’s confession time: before I joined the blogging world I didn’t have any kind of skincare routine. Yep, that’s right, nothing. In fact, the extent of my skincare was to scrape off my makeup with a wipe before bed (shudders) and throw on a bit of moisturiser in the morning (although I’m pretty sure I was actually using a body cream).

But before you click off my blog and unfollow me in disgust, let me assure you that I am now a changed gal. My bank balance may be hating me for it, but my skin is better than ever.

After I’d sorted out the basics, like an actual facial moisturiser, cleanser and toner, I was really keen to try out some of the other products I’d seen beauty bloggers raving about. One of the first things on my list was the Body Shop’s Drops of Youth Bouncy Sleeping Mask, as I’d read so many amazing things about it.

The Body Shop describes the product as a “smoothing, refreshing and replenishing night cream-gel” which leaves skin feeling “bouncier, smoother, refreshed, recharged and renewed”. For the past month or so I have been applying the cream as the final step of my skincare before going to sleep, and it’s honestly made such a difference to how my skin looks and feels.

When I’d read reviews of the product before trying it, I couldn’t understand what everyone meant by the consistency being “bouncy”, but that really is the best way to describe it. It comes with a little spatula to scoop the cream/gel out of the tub, which is needed because the top of the product kind of smooths itself back over once you’ve used it.

Another great thing about this product is that you barely need to use any of it for each application, as it spreads so far – definitely makes the £24 worth it! Once you’ve rubbed the product into your skin, you are supposed to leave it to absorb into your skin; what the packing doesn’t tell you is that this process takes pretty much all night. After application it leaves your skin feeling sticky for a good few hours at least.

But it is so worth it. My skin was noticeably smoother and softer from the first night I tried it, and any redness I used to get on my face has greatly reduced too.

I really love this product and will be strongly considering repurchasing it when it’s finished. Although I can’t imagine that it will be any time soon, because I’ve barely made a dent in the month that I’ve been using it so far.

Have you tried the Drops of Youth Bouncy Sleeping Mask? What’s the final step of your night-time skincare routine?
