Beauty: Benefit – How to Look the Best at Everything

Benefit really wins at packaging doesn’t it? I think I would buy the majority of their products based on their appearance alone and the fact that I could fill my room with pretty things.

This kit is definitely no exception, and for an English Lit graduate, anything packaged to look like a book is going to be an instant hit. And of course, I need to know how to look the best at everything.

I love Benefit’s beauty kits; I received mine as a birthday present, and they just make such good gifts. What’s even better is that you get to try out four different products without having to commit to buying the full-sized versions.

How to Look the Best at Everything is described as a ‘Flawless Complexion Makeup Kit’ and it comes in three different shades: light, medium, and deep. It’s sounding good so far, right?

Obvs I have the light variation, because my complexion is generally ghostly.

So, onto the products…

The first product is the infamous POREfessional primer. I was so excited to try this, having heard many a beauty blogger and YouTuber rave about it. The first time I tried it I found that it peeled off my skin in small pieces as I was applying it, and I couldn’t understand why.

I think the problem is that it’s designed to combat oily skin, whereas I my skin is always dry.

However, provided that I apply the POREfessional immediately after moisturising – and I’m talking before it’s even had time to soak into my skin – it works really well in helping my foundation to blend nicely and stay on my face for longer.

It’s a really effective primer, but I think it’s more suited to those with oily skin.

Next up is the Hello Flawless Oxygen Wow foundation, which I love. It’s the perfect colour (ivory I’m pure 4 sure) for my untanned skin and is the kind of liquid-y formula that I always look for in a foundation.

Although the coverage is great, I do think that there are a few drugstore foundations which are just as good, so I might have to wait until I join the working world before I can justify spending that little bit extra on repurchasing it.

When it came to the Boi-ing 01 & O2 industrial-strength concealers, I was sceptical. Like, did I really need an industrial-strength concealer? It sounds a bit intense.

Well, the answer is that I do. I definitely do need this concealer. If there’s one thing I will be buying in full once this kit is empty, it is the Boi-ing concealer.

Although if someone could help me to pronounce it, that would be great. I keeping trying to pronounce it like ‘Boeing’; that’s what you get for having a plane geek for a boyfriend.

I don’t tend to get blemishes very often, but when I do they are the kind that stick around as a red mark forever. Tmi? Well this is the only concealer I’ve tried that will properly cover up these marks, so I am a big fan.

There’s not really much to say about the Hello Flawless powder cover-up; it’s just a standard power. Apparently it does have SPF 15 though, so that’s a nice touch.

I really love this makeup kit, and my favourite products are definitely the Boi-ing concealers and the Hello Flawless foundation. I also think it’s great that there’s a little Tips and Tricks sheet inside the box; I need all the help I can get!

Have you tried any of the products from the How to Look the Best at Everything kit? What is your favourite Benefit makeup kit?
