Beauty: Bourjois Healthy Mix Foundation

I bought the Bourjois Healthy Mix Foundation on Sarah Ashcroft’s recommendation, as she said in a video that it was the best foundation that she had ever used. And I mean, come on, who doesn’t want to look like Sarah Ashcroft?

Plus, as I generally have dry skin, I’m always keen for any product which claims to give you a ‘healthy glow’ and ‘hydrated & luminous skin’.

The only Bourjois products I’d used before this foundation were eye products, so I had no idea whether the foundation would agree with my skin – I was purely going on this recommendation.

First off, the foundation smells amazing. It’s so fruity and fresh, and that makes me feel better about the fact that I am about to block up my pores with a load of chemicals. Supposedly the fruit extracts have a purpose: apricot for radiance, melon for hydration and apple for youth protection. I don’t know about any of that, but what I do know is that it smells GREAT.

The thing I love most about this foundation is the colour. Mine is in shade 52, Vanille, which is the second lightest tone. You know how with drugstore foundations even the lightest colours can leave you with orangey smears? Well this foundation does none of that. It gives me a bit of colour, but avoids all orangey tones. Ah-mazing.

The foundation blends into the skin so effortlessly and evenly, and you can build up a thicker coverage quite easily too, if you want a heavier look.

I only have one negative, and that is that it doesn’t seem to give such a good textural cover-up. So although the foundation gives me an amazingly even colouring, if you look up close you can still see any textural flaws on the skin.

I will definitely be rebuying Bourjois’ Healthy Mix foundation, as it’s the best drugstore foundation I’ve tried so far.

I’m also kind of intrigued by the Healthy Mix serum foundation, although I’m not sure I fully understand the differences! If you’ve tried either of the Healthy Mix foundations, or both, let me know what you thought in the comments.

What’s your favourite drugstore/ high-street foundation?
