Tailored Coat & Cut Out Shoes: Winter #OOTD

Photos by Tom Buckley
Hello, it's me. I was wondering if after all these years you'd like to meet  weeks you'd mind pretending I'm a fashion blogger again

Every winter I try to think if there are any wardrobe staples I'm missing so I can prioritise any clothes or accessories I've got my eye on. In anticipation of starting working life, I realised that I didn't really have any smart coats or jackets, and that my only flat boots permanently looked like they'd just been dragged through a muddy field. Not exactly the impression I wanted to be making...

I fell in love with this Missguided tailored coat as soon as I saw it. The camel colouring goes with pretty much everything, and it looks super smart for work or for evening occasions. As you can see from these outfit photos, I also pair the coat with my Topshop ripped jeans for a more casual weekend look.

Coats with pockets are an essential for me, and I'm a huge fan of the double breasted detailing. For a reasonably-priced coat, it looks and feels really good quality, so I'm hoping it will last me another couple of winters!

I usually play it quite safe and opt for neutral-coloured footwear, but this winter I decided to be bold and go for something a little more interesting. I started searching for cut out boots, as I'd never owned a pair before, when I came across these River Island beauties on ASOS (which are currently in the sale, just sayin').

I adore the colour of these boots, and the cut out detail and buckles just give them that extra something. They are also some of the most comfortable shoes I own, and amazingly have stayed this shiny even after months of wearing them.

I have made the error a couple of times though, of forgetting to think about my sock choice in the morning...

To complete the outfit, I've thrown on my favourite tartan scarf from Boohoo and this blue Longchamp bag, which is my go-to bag for work days at the moment. They add the perfect splash of colour to the outfit.

I would love to know what your winter essentials were this year - let me know in the comments!
