Styling a Casual Outfit

I’m very lucky in that my dress code for work is pretty casual, meaning that if all my brain can cope with at 6:30 in the morning is throwing on jeans, a t-shirt and a pair of trainers, then that’s fine. Even though this definitely happens at least once a week, most days I try to find ways to make the jeans and t-shirt combo look a little smarter, a little more interesting or just a little like I’ve actually put some effort into my outfit.

The simple look I’m loving at the moment is based on these three wardrobe staples: a pair of Topshop MOTO Washed Black Mom Jeans, a basic white t-shirt from Primark (similar here) and my Nike Roshe Run Trainers. I’m a recent convert to the mom jeans party, but I’m loving the alternate option to my standard black skinnies.

The first thing I reach for at the moment to shake up this outfit is a bomber jacket, and in particular this khaki faux-suede bomber from Primark (similar here). Cropped, fitted jackets compliment the slightly baggy shape of mom jeans so well, and I love the black detailing on the waist of this bomber jacket.

With this kind of outfit I usually pick out some simple jewellery, so these silver-coloured rings, necklace and bracelet that I was sent by are perfect for this look. Adjustable rings are always a winner with me, as you can wear them on various fingers, and I love the delicacy of the arrow design across all three pieces. Plus, the packaging they arrive in is so lovely, which is every blogger’s dream.

I’m also wearing my Olivia Burton Rose Gold Watch to add another tone to the outfit. It sits in nicely with the khaki shade of the jacket and the simple silver jewellery.

Now that the weather is finally getting a little warmer, I can’t leave the house without a pair of sunglasses, so I’ve gone for these beauties that I found in a vintage shop in Sheffield (similar here). It’s the best feeling when you pick up a complete bargain, and these were just £2.50. Amazing.

To finish off the outfit I had to add a lip colour, and I am obsessed with this Topshop lipstick in Ditsy at the moment. I have a feeling they don’t sell this shade anymore, but it’s very similar to Falling Fast. It adds that extra pop of colour to the look, and it’s such an effortless way to make your outfit seem that bit more put-together.

If I want to take the outfit up another level, I will throw in this H&M hat. What is it about hats that make you feel (and hopefully look) a lot more stylish than you really are?

I’d love to know how you style your casual outfits and what your statement pieces are, so let me know in the comments!

Coco kept standing in front of the camera so we decided she wanted some photo attention...

*I was gifted the rings, bracelet and necklace by, but all the love for these pieces is my own.
