Beauty: May Favourites

I haven’t written a beauty favourites post in a couple of months, and that’s mostly because I’m someone who likes to finish a product before I buy a replacement or try a different brand. That is excluding lipsticks of course, you can never have too many lipsticks.

In fact, it wasn’t until I looked back on my previous favourites posts that I realised I do actually have quite a few products that I have recently added to my skincare and makeup routines.

The Body Shop Vitamin E Face Mist & Moisture Cream

Back in my 2015 Favourites, I claimed that I would be rebuying The Body Shop’s Vitamin C mist and moisturiser for a long time since I had no need to try any other. Well curiosity got the better of me, and a month or so ago when my beloved Vitamin C products ran out, I decided to try out the Vitamin E range.

I love the fragrance and the consistency of the Vitamin E cream, and it is definitely just as good to my skin as my previous staples. And even though I think I do still prefer the freshness of the Vitamin C products, I would definitely repurchase these two again.

The Body Shop Tea Tree Pore Minimiser & No 7 Airbrush Away Foundation

After almost a year of swearing by the Bourgeois Healthy Mix Foundation, I decided it was time to try something new, so I switched up my whole primer/ foundation combo and picked up The Body Shop Tea Tree Pore Minimiser and No7’s Airbrush Away Foundation in Cool Vanilla.

I’m definitely going to be rebuying this primer once its run out; more than just acting as a great base for foundation, it really feels like it is benefitting the skin at the same time and it’s super cooling to apply.

I had never tried a No7 Foundation before, but I was immediately impressed. I love the pipette functionality, and it blends into the skin effortlessly and with no streaks. The colour is also the best match I’ve found for my skin tone so far. I like to only apply a light layer, which gives a very natural and almost makeup-free effect, but it’s also easy to build up to a thicker coverage. As it’s a very matte foundation, though, you do need to make sure you moisturise thoroughly beforehand and pair with a good primer, especially if you generally have drier skin.

Soap & Glory Kick Ass Blur & Brighten Concealer & Benefit They’re Real Mascara

After my mini Soap & Glory haul in March, I was keen to try another product from their range. The Blur & Brighten Concealer is a crayon with a really light, creamy consistency, and it is perfect for brightening areas of the skin that need a bit of extra product. As it’s just a light concealer, I do have to use a thicker concealer for areas that need a lot of coverage, but it’s great for brightening under the eyes and the top of the nose.

I didn’t think anything could rival my love for Benefit’s Roller Lash Mascara, but I’ve recently been reaching for They’re Real over anything else. Whilst Roller Lash adds both length and volume, They’re real focuses mostly on length and definition, giving a more natural effect.

Barry M Speedy Nail Paint - Pit Stop

Ignore my really badly painted nail - it's not a good representation of what the nail varnish is actually like #badblogger

I've been on the look-out for a while for some more neutral nail varnish shades, as over the years I've build up a collection of mostly bright colours.

Pit Stop is exactly what I was looking for, and I always know with Barry M that I will be happy with the consistency and quality of the varnish. Even with the Speedy Quick Dry range, the shades last far longer than other brands of a similar price.

No7 Stay Perfect Lipstick – Gay Geranium

I had also been searching for an orange-toned lip colour, and stumbled across this one from No7 when I wasn't really looking.

Gay Geranium is the perfect colour to accompany summer outfits. It's quite a light formula, so it does require a few applications to give a full coverage, but once it's on it stays in place pretty well.

I'd love to know which products have been your favourites this month - let me know in the comments!
